Pyramids and Amazon

COMIC #20

We’re conditioned to be thankful for any job we can find. On the other hand, wealth divergences are increasing at increasing rates.

Now, I’m not saying Jeff Bezos is a terrible person or that Amazon is a company with evil motives. Amazon is a tremendous company that has improved the lives of too many people. Perhaps the joke (or not-so-much a joke) is that Robbinhell thinks he’s being a “good boss” here because he is being more “generous” than the slave owner next to him. In a modern context, if a $12.50 minimum wage is better than $11 minimum wage but both wages trap the worker in eternal debt, is the “Land of Opportunity” overstated?

Add to this ‘economic soup’ the fact that middle-class labourers are taxed at higher rates than the wealthiest humans on earth, it makes for it a real head-scratcher.
