This comic is inspired by a recent article I read about a Hedge Fund that was fined by the SEC for manipulating gold markets. The company ended up paying a “hefty fine” but that fine only represents a fraction of the profit from their illegal trades. It’s like if the fine for robbing a bank was $10,000 - no jail time, or if the punishment for murdering somebody was 100 hours of community service.
