Fund Razor

This comic was inspired by a wedding I worked as a bartender this past summer. Young people often get mesmerized by bartending and it’s not uncommon for a kid to say “I want to be a bartender when I grow up" after sliding them a Shirley Temple. On this particular night, a young was collecting money from the wedding guests with the advertisement that he was collecting money to give to me, the bartender, as a TIP for making drinks. He had collected about $40 in $5 and $10 bills when his mother said, “okay give the money to the bartender now.” There was a hesitation and everyone could tell he didn’t want to part with the money he had just collected.

The next part will go down in fundraising lore. The child, now holding about $40 of easy money, reached into his wad of cash and grabbed $10, and handed it to me. The mother interjected and said “give him all the money” to which the kid replied, “but I’m saving!”. Sounds noble enough right? The mother then asked, “what are you saving for?” and the kid replied, “for my mansion”. It was a light and really funny moment. The mother rolled her eyes, I chuckled, and we all shared the funny moment. I immediately thought of Robbinhell as a child!
